Penguins

Penguins is an innovative production designed to tour rural areas, within a pop-up igloo! Conceived through direct collaboration with young people, the show is inspired by their insightful, optimistic responses to the pressing issue of climate change and explores current efforts and actionable steps to mitigate its effects.

Invited inside the inflatable igloo, the audience joins Noah in his ‘duvet den’, where he uses his globe, his imagination, and (though he would never admit it) sometimes his little sister’s help to travel all over the world, exploring and learning about all the animals, inspired by his idol, Sir David Attenborough. With the help of everyone’s imagination, they travel to Antarctica to meet Noah’s favourite animal, the penguin! In an immersive, sensory environment, the audience helps to build the story and Mr Penguin himself, while hearing snippets of children’s interviews explaining their understanding and ideas around climate change (giant fans, freezers and even an ice rocket!). While enjoying the adventure and teaching everyone his most interesting penguin facts, Noah discovers what is happening to Penguin’s habitat, and becomes determined to find ways to spread the word and save his friend.

Penguins not only offers an engaging and entertaining experience but also serves as a catalyst for environmental awareness and sustainable action, particularly in rural communities.
